Our mission: Creating good vibes!

 

In The Beginning
As dance culture becomes mainsteam, there is just so much enthusiasm for DJ'ing around us here in Joziburg. But only the select few can afford a course at the only other DJ school in town, and what about access to a set of Technics SL's and a decent sound rig?

In the spirit of SpinOut's mission to promote dance culture by helping up and coming DJ's and providing resources to them (with purely non profit motives), we got together with the guys from mbk Productions and hatched a plan for a free DJ Skool. It would be organised between us and would draw other people to share their knowledge, many of whom have been part of the SpinOut project at stage of their DJ careers.

Putting out the word
After many meetings, we decided on a plan of action and sent out this press release to newspapers, radio stations, email lists and web sites. The response was fantastic and although we had only planned for 10 successful applicants, we just didn't have the heart to turn away such talent and ended up with a class of seventeen.

The successful applicants:

Masisi Banda, Jonathan Chan King, James Gladwin, Morelle Jacobs, Bjorn Julius, Nick Karaush, Mziwandile Linda, Masilo, Lazarus Maunatlala, Keegan Martin, Lungi Mchuny, Nthabiseng Mothibi, Ryan O' Sulivan, Brian Rose, Hans Sticht, Richard Stockenstrom, and Michelle Banda.

It's a real mixed bunch of enthusiastic people, that come from places like Tembisa, Elderado Park, Midrand and our home base Yeoville. And they have a wide range of musical tastes - just the way we like it!

The Course Schedule and Curriculm
After much consideration we came up with a course that we think covers everything. It got revised half way through the course. Here it is.
