The Runaways consist of A.J. Kwame and Joe 2.0.0.0 - two futuristic break-boat pioneers whose work first inspired the term TRIP-HOP. After forming the revolutionary hip-hop outfit, KPM (on Mo'Wax records) they
went on to create the label Ultimate Dilemma with Max Lousada. This label was voted the UK's most promising new label last year by the music industry. A.J. and Joe release their material through CD of course, and the tour is being used to launch their new album Classic Tales.
The Runaways will be working on 4 SL1200 turntables, pushing turntable art form to its limits - both continuously scratching, cutting and looping vinyl 12 inch records - ranging through ragga, hip-hop, trip-hop
and drum 'n bass. The tour is focused on firstly getting as many people as possible finking down to fresh cutting-edge music, to promote Hip-Hop and all associated art forms (graffiti, break-dancing, etc) and lastly to create strong ties between the SA hip-hopsters (across all colour barriers) and the UK scene, which has been largely ignored in favour of US hip-hop.
